SUPER BOWL SNACKS

Super Bowl Sunday. The most watched program of the year. The Falcons and the Patriots. The real reason I am writing about this today?? It is the second highest day to consume food next to Thanksgiving! So I'm here to share some of my favorite Super Bowl Snacks with all of you!

I took a class regarding everything that has to do with the Super Bowl my senior year of college and absolutely loved it! It was by far my favorite class because I never thought about how much time and thought goes into each Super Bowl. Fun Fact: The Super Bowl was called Super Bowl 50 last year because they did not like the way Super Bowl L sounded. After "Super Bowl 50", they went back to roman numerals. Whether it is the game, the venue, the channel the game is being viewed on, or the commercials, every little piece is so intricate! Clearly, people enjoy it, since this program gets the most attention all year round. Who can blame them?! Between the commercials,  game, and halftime show?? There is something for everyone!

I will admit, I enjoy football! It is my favorite sport to watch, whether college or NFL, and I love the comradery. There is something about football that can be made enjoyable to everyone (ok, that may not be true, but I like to believe it!) When the Super Bowl approaches, it doesn't just become about the game. It becomes about the company in which you watch with and what you eat!

Here are my favorite easy/last minute recipes!

Slow Cooker Pulled BBQ Chicken

What You Need:

Recipe:

  1. Clean your chicken and trim any fat off of it, (Personally I like to use Chicken Breasts because it is easier to work with). Once your chicken is cleaned, you can cut it into strips (This part is optional)
  2. Pour 1/4 of your BBQ sauce on the bottom of your slow cooker. After, place your chicken in the slow cooker.
  3. Season your chicken with garlic salt and pepper.
  4. Pour another 2/4 of the BBQ sauce on your chicken, leaving 1/4 of the sauce left in your bottle.
  5. Set your slow cooker. 4 hours for High OR 7 hours for Low.
  6. When the time is up, take two forks and pull your chicken apart while still in the slow cooker. The chicken should basically fall apart.
  7. Let the chicken sit on keep warm or low for 30 mins to an hour.
  8. Enjoy!

Feel Free to Mix anything you want in it! The variations make it fun and unique!

Guacamole & Chips

What You Need:

  • 3 Avocados (Halved/Seeded/Peeled)
  • 1/2 Red Onion, Finely Chopped or Minced
  • 1/2 Tomato (Chopped)
  • 1 tbsp of Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2 tbsp of Fresh Cilantro, Finely Chopped
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp of Garlic Salt
  • Favorite Bag of Chips (I am LOVING these Trader Joe Chips)

Recipe:

  1. Cut the avocados in half, take out the seed, and remove the flesh into a medium sized bowl.
  2. Mash the avocados with a fork until at a consistency desired.
  3. Add the salts, pepper, and lime.
  4. Add the rest of your ingredients (onions, tomatos, cilantro) and mix with the fork.
  5. Enjoy with Chips!

Those are my two favorite recipes to make for the big game (even if my team didn't make it, GO GIANTS!)

What do you guys like making/eating??
