2016

I cannot believe that another year is gone. As cliche as it sounds, 2016 REALLY flew by. I remember ringing it in last year not knowing what it will hold. Little did I know everything that was going to happen in the next 365 days.

Personally, I think 2016 was one of the best years of my life. Between traveling and new projects, I seemed to be busy everyday! This year I had the opportunity to travel to Boston, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Georgia, and Florida. (I really should give a shout out to Ryan for making all these treks with me!) It is hard to pick a favorite trip because all of them saw something different, but I'll let you know some of my favorite things!

When we drove up to Maine, it was probably the coldest weekend of the year (I mean it, pipes were freezing!!!), but we started our Maine adventure by hitting a vineyard for Valentines Day. We always try to stop by Vineyards to see what the area has to offer. Maine was fantastic! Even if I didn't get to see a moose, I'm starting to think they don't even exist!! My favorite part of Maine, would have to be Freeport. I am a huge fan of L.L. Bean and loved getting the opportunity to see their campus, and I even got a picture with the legendary Bean Boot!! While in Maine, we stayed in the cutest AirBnB. It was a tiny cabin for two people and the perfect way to end a great trip.

Some of the other places I traveled to this year include:

  • Stowe, VT
  • Boston, MA
  • Newport, RI
  • Block Island, RI
  • Gainesville, FL
  • St.Augustine, FL
  • Bethany, DE
  • Portland, ME
  • Portsmouth, NH
  • Mt. Washington, NH
  • Manchester, VT
  • Ocean City, MD
  • Berkshires, MA
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Mystic, CT
  • Ithaca, NY

Another one of my favorite trips would have to be my two week trip to Florida. Ry and I drove down to Florida in October to visit our families. On the way down, we stopped in Savannah, Georgia. It was my first time there and it was absolutely gorgeous! You can see more about my trip to Georgia here!! While in Florida, we traveled to Tampa, where we visited my family and took a 10 mile bike ride (that was so fun!). Next, we drove to Melbourne Beach to visit Ry's family then headed to Gainesville to watch the Florida vs. Georgia College Football game. That was quite the experience!! (& the Gators won!!) To wrap up our journey, we headed to Orlando for a few days. There we walked around the new Disney Springs, which was beyond beautiful, then headed over to Universal Studios to stay in one of their resorts while attending Halloween Horror Nights. I love the act of being scared. I don't know why, but I think it's the thrill. Ryan and I both wore Tim Tebow Jerseys and took on the night (as best we could). That was probably the biggest thrill for the year, but I do not regret it and would completely do it again.

When it comes to viewing my accomplishments of 2016, I have two that really stand out in my mind.
The first would be running my first half marathon. You can read more about that accomplishment here! I trained so hard for that race and crossing that finish line was such a sigh of relief. I gained so much more confidence in the running department and the general working out department. As for my second accomplishment of 2016, starting this blog was one of the best things that has happened to me. I found a way to express myself, and while running this blog so many of my day-to-day skills have improved. This is something I am sticking with and happy that I finally started after so many failed attempts.

2016 was fantastic & I cannot wait until the new year with a new journey.
