Red, White, & Blueberry

Baking is my favorite! Especially, when it can have a theme. With the Olympics here, there is a huge hype around anything red, white, & blue. So I took the opportunity to bake a festive cake (I made this same recipe on Fourth of July).

Usually, I try to make all my recipes from scratch, but I have been so busy recently that the easiest thing for me to grab was a boxed cake. I followed the directions on the box, but instead of vegetable oil, I went with Coconut oil. I highly recommend it! It gave the cake more flavor in my opinion. After letting it all cool, which took about 30-45 minutes, I iced the cake with a Buttercream frosting. Using berries from a local Farmers Market, the flag was slowly created on my cake (even tried to use 50 blueberries, but could not make all the strips). Everyone loved it!

Do you have any festive baked goods??
